How to Create a POP3 Email Account

You can easily create POP3 email accounts from your control panel by following the steps below:
  • Log in to your control panel at   www.YourDomainName.com/cpanel and click on Mail and the Mail manager will start.
  • Click on Manage/Add/Remove Accounts and you will be shown email accounts, if any, that you have already created.
  • To create a new account, click on Add Account and you will be taken to the email details page.
  • Fill in the email account name and password. For example, if you are creating an email account of Webmaster@YourDomainName.com you will fill in Webmaster as the account name and your desired password and then click on Create button.
  • If everything goes well, you will be shown the message that the account has been successfully created.
  • You can follow the above procedure to create POP3 email accounts up to a maximum of your hosting plan quota.

How to Check Your Email with an Email Client

Note: For your email to work, your domain must fully resolve to our servers. This typically takes 24 to 48 hours from the day the domain name was registered or the name servers for the domain were changed to point to BetterValueWebHosting.
All our hosting plans come with POP3 accounts. What that means is that you have the option of sending and receiving your email by using an email client like Microsoft Outlook Express, Eudora Mail and other similar email clients. To do that you need to create a POP3 email account as explained above and configure your email client. While the steps below describe how to configure Outlook Express 6.0, similar steps can be used to configure most other email clients.
  • Start your Outlook Express and click on Tools, then on Accounts and an Internet Accounts window appears with several Tabs on the top.
  • Click on the Mail Tab and you will see an Add Button towards the top right of that window.
  • Click on the Add button and then click on Mail. This will start the Internet Connection Wizard asking you to enter your Display name. Enter your desired name here; this is what people will see when they receive your email. For example if you are configuring it for your Webmaster@YourDomainName.com account, you may type in the Display name as Webmaster.
  • Click the Next button and a screen will appear asking you to enter your email address. Enter your email address e.g. Webmaster@YourDomainName.com
  • Click the next button and on the next screen make sure to choose POP3 from the drop down menu on the very first line where its says My incoming mail server is a ..... server. That is, once you have selected POP3 this line will read: My incoming mail server is a POP3 server.
On the same screen, under both - incoming mail [POP3, IMAP or HTTP] server and outgoing mail [SMTP] server type in mail.yourdomain.com
Important Note: Due to spamming issues, many Internet Service Providers (ISPs) block the sending of emails through their connection unless you use their Outgoing mail [SMTP] server settings. If by using the above settings of mail.yourdomain.com, you are able to receive email but get error messages while sending email, then that is a sure sign that your ISP is blocking the emails. In that case use your ISP's SMTP settings which they would have provided when you signed up with them. If you have misplaced your ISP's SMTP settings, you can easily obtain this information either from your ISP's web site or otherwise contacting them.
  • Click the next button and under account name, type in your full email address e.g. Webmaster@YourDomainName.com and under password type in the password that your used when you created this email account. Make a check mark on the box Remember Password if you want your email client to remember your password otherwise you will have to enter your password manually every time you want to check your email. Do not make check marks on any other boxes on this screen.
  • Click next and you will be greeted with a message that you have successfully entered all the information required to set your account. Click on the Finish button and you have configured your Outlook Express to send and receive message for this email address.
